Local Information

The Quantock Hills

The Quantock Hills stretch over 40 square miles from Taunton, Somerset’s county town, to the Bristol Channel coast. They have deeply incised, wooded, coombes (valleys) and open heather moorland along the ridge. They are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and were England's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Quantocks are home to red deer and a herd of Exmoor ponies that rome free. They provide superb walks/rides, tremendous views (to Exmoor, the Somerset Levels, South Wales and the sea), romantic valleys and pretty old villages.
