Medieval Dunster is 6 miles away. It has a wealth of heritage and history ranging from the National Trust's 11th century Dunster castle to the Old Yarn Market in the middle of the high street. There is also a working mill, an Exmoor National Park information centre and a wide range of artisan shops and galleries. Numerous excellent walks start and finish in Dunster - or you could go there by bus and enjoy and exhilarating walk back to Sampford Brett.

Dunster by Candlelight is held annually on the first Friday and Saturday of December. Its a magical event with all the shops open and lots of street entertainers - an excellent focus for a short winter break.
