There is a variety of beaches within 5 miles of the house. The closest is at Doniford which is good for dog walking. Kilve is great for fossil hunting and rock pools, whereas Dunster, Blue Anchor and Minehead offer plenty of sand for digging and kite flying. Watchet, Porlock Wier and Minehead have fascinating harbours, good pubs and many other things to do.

Further afield - but well within the reach of a day trip - are the sandy coves around Lynmouth and Coombe Martin and the surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands.
